The USIF100 Serial Interface

The USIF001 Serial Interface product is a device that converts a bus mouse protocol trackball or a serial protocol keypad into a USB HID-class protocol device.

$170

USIF-100-P1020048.png

Connectors

The product has a D-Sub 9-pin female connector which connects to either the trackball or the keypad. The other side of the product contains the USB standard B-type connector. An LED located beside the USB connector indicates the status of the unit.

Operation

The unit will automatically detect if it is attached to a keypad or trackball. In order for this feature to work properly, the keypad or trackball must be attached to the unit prior to connecting the USB. When the USB is connected, the LED will light yellow to indicate trackball operation, or green to indicate keypad operation. Once the connected device has been verified, then the unit will pass on USB power to the device, and normal device operation will begin. This process takes less than a second.
